Given my client's wish to merge family history with a modern brand image, I seized the chance to create a timeless emblem. Starting with the delicate crochet piece from their grandmother, I translated its intricate details into a vector. Adding a playful twist, I incorporated the image of a lemon. This blend of nostalgia and modern design not only paid tribute to the client's cherished grandmother but also became a tangible keepsake. The logo transformed beyond a simple visual representation into a meaningful symbol of familial love and heritage, captured within the lively silhouette of a lemon.
In a project of repurposing and hands-on craftsmanship, I took on a unique challenge that pushed beyond the boundaries of traditional design. When a client acquired an 1800s church steeple from Portugal with the idea to turn it into a grand headboard, it sparked an inspiring journey. Armed with determination, power tools, and a wealth of knowledge gained from late-night YouTube sessions, I set out to bring the client's dream to life. The outcome? A custom bed that artfully merged the old-world charm of the Portuguese steeple with a contemporary touch of elegance. Paint-matching became a meticulous task as I selected hues to mirror the steeple's intricate details, ensuring the headboard seamlessly blended with the bed. To add a touch of opulence, the bed's button legs underwent a luxurious transformation with a gold rub 'n buff, giving them a regal finish.
I had the pleasure of crafting a distinctive logo and eye-catching banner for a local gym, blending creativity with functionality. The logo captures the essence of the gym's identity, while the banner serves as a dynamic visual element, creating an inviting atmosphere for fitness enthusiasts.
The client's request for a lock-and-key concept prompted an exploration beyond the usual design conventions. Instead of a literal depiction of a lock and key, I introduced a distinctive touch by integrating the client's initials into the key code. This subtle yet impactful design choice not only personalized the logo but also added an additional layer of symbolism, representing the brand as a strategic key unlocking unparalleled opportunities.
The design blended security and sophistication, crafting a cohesive brand identity that goes beyond the ordinary.
In the summer of 2015, I took on an artistic project to turn a blank canvas into a visual feast for my client's restaurant. Given the freedom for full creative expression, I aimed for an immersive dining experience that went beyond what was on the plate. Facing an empty wall, I drew inspiration from the lush greenery hanging above—a ceiling adorned with a canopy of plants. Blending seamlessly with the ambiance, I introduced vibrant trailing plants, creating a cascading effect down the wall to mimic the overhead allure. The highlight came when I captured the essence of the restaurant's culinary pride, the famous tzatziki sauce. With a skillful touch, I illustrated the savory dance of ingredients that make up this beloved sauce, turning the wall into a visual spectacle that mirrored the delights served on the tables below.
I teamed up with the cool folks at 4 Hands Brewing to give their labels a fresh new look. As the designs got more intricate, the client wanted to jazz it up a bit with some shiny foil. Dealing with the ins and outs of Flexo printing, our team faced challenges to make sure the foil dazzled just right, meeting the client's vision. As a prepress operator, I was right in the thick of it, turning those fancy designs into print-ready magic, making the concept a reality. Collaboration was the secret sauce. Balancing the intricate designs with the printing process, we got creative to make that foil shine brilliantly, giving the labels an extra pop on the shelves. This team effort showcased the magic of working together, bringing technical skills and creative problem-solving to the table. The labels didn't just meet expectations; they set a whole new standard for beer branding in a competitive market.
Immersing myself in the Aquafina redesign, I collaborated closely with multiple printers and clients to breathe new life into the brand's visual identity. As a prepress professional, I played a crucial role in orchestrating a collaborative journey, from the initial concept to the final approval. Tirelessly engaging with printers to ensure precision in execution, I not only facilitated a dialogue between creative vision and practical feasibility but also took charge of line extending all shrink sleeve sizes in the United States. This meticulous effort ensured a consistent and flawless application of the redesigned elements across various packaging dimensions.
A decade-long journey in my career has been dedicated to the artistry of line extension, where every product tells a unique story through its packaging. My expertise has found expression in diverse projects, collaborating with industry giants such as Pepsi, Ahold, InBev, Keurig Dr. Pepper, and more. Each collaboration presented an opportunity to craft packaging solutions that not only encapsulated the essence of the product but also spoke to the hearts of consumers. I played a key role in line extending and contributing to the design of Hannaford's new Natures Promise dog and cat food line, ensuring a cohesive and visually appealing product range. Through strategic design decisions, I enhanced the brand identity and visual consistency across the entire line, creating a compelling and unified presence on the shelves.
As a Prepress Specialist, I played a pivotal role in crafting promotional materials for Germ-X, collaborating closely with the creative team to ensure their vision was print-ready for Flexo printing. Guiding the creative process, I focused on translating ideas into designs optimized for Flexo printing, with meticulous attention to color precision and technical details. Facilitating seamless communication among team members, I bridged the gap between creative aspirations and the requirements of Flexo printing. This project underscored my proficiency as a Prepress Specialist, demonstrating not only my technical skills but also my collaborative approach in delivering designs that met brand objectives and enhanced the consumer experience.
I had the joy of creating custom drawings for a client's bedroom, turning her space into a haven of intimate beauty. The drawings unfolded on a captivating black background, becoming a dramatic canvas that effortlessly grabs attention, reflecting her vision. The client desired a unique touch, a blend of sensuality and artistry that could evoke a feeling of vulnerability and raw beauty. This personalized artwork transcended mere drawings; it became a reflection of personal expression and individuality.
Embarking on the task of crafting a custom chandelier for the third chapter of my client's restaurant empire was an invigorating yet familiar challenge—balancing the original essence with the unique charm of each venue. Drawing inspiration from the previous black-and-green aesthetic, the client desired a farmhouse vibe with Edison bulbs. To seamlessly integrate these elements, I designed a rustic yet elegant concept that perfectly complemented the restaurant's ambiance. The result was a chandelier paying homage to the first venue while embracing the distinctive character of the third establishment. Additionally, I added a personal touch by drawing light bulbs on the wall, resembling the style of the second restaurant.
In the Halloween spirit of 2023, inspired by Twitter's switch to X, I took on a creative project that turned me into a walking Twitter throwback. I transformed an inflatable bird, ditching its legs and giving it the classic colors of the old Twitter logo. Armed with spray paint and a vision, I brought the avian emblem to life, channeling the essence of a bygone era in social media history. To top it off, I added a personal touch with a sleek X emblem on my shirt. Using a Cricut machine, I carefully crafted the symbol, blending nostalgia with Twitter's contemporary shift in identity.
